Zoom Staff Meeting

Zoom Staff Meeting

The changes in life are huge these days.  One of those things are the daily zoom staff meetings to make sure we aren’t forgetting anyone we should be ministering to.

In the midst of today’s meeting Father T received a call from a parishioner.   She is the Nurse Manager of a nursing home. She was with a 102 year old woman who was dying.  Her family was not allowed into the nursing home and she was dying alone.   She wanted to speak to a priest.   Our parishioner told her “I know a guy”.   She called Father T and he kicked us all out of the meeting while he spoke to her.

Another staff member was in her office a few doors down.   I could hear Father T’s voice but not his words until he and the woman prayed the Our Father together.  The two of them praying that together was loud and clear.  And, it was heart wrenching.    All of us on the meeting felt the emotion.

This was another reminder of all the changes happening.   But also a reminder of all the love and the faith in this world.   So much is different.   So much will never be the same.   Yet, a woman dying reaches out in faith and was met right where she was.   I will never know how that moment affected her.   But it left a deep mark on me.
