What a day!
The day started early with Joe and I out the door to meet Mom for Mass. I dropped him at Mass and then spent the next twelve hours with people. It was constant and not what I was expecting but while tiring so fulfilling.
Classes this morning were awesome and the kids were talking in Church to people who help make Mass a great experience but we may not pay real attention to. Some teachers had their kids ready to “greet” the greeters. Others loved hearing about the technology side and the possible chance of muting the Pastor (don’t let that out). Others were taken with the Altar Servers and never realized all they did. Still others challenged David on what was better Lector or Eucharistic Minister. Some had questions in music from how were the songs chosen to who sings. It was a privilege to watch all those unsung Mass heroes be noticed by our children and to see those unsung heroes embrace our children.
You would think that was a highlight but I went downstairs to watch middle school girls stepping up and embracing our preschoolers. After this I had a Core Team meeting and so much feedback followed by talks on personal issues.
This went into God Squad meeting with so many questions of when will Father crash our meeting. To me this is life giving and faith giving that they are actively waiting for him to arrive. And arrive he did and laugh they did and connect they did.
Last of the day was some tough nuts though the toughest didn’t show of our 9th and 10th grade. I particularly have a very strong affinity to Mary. To have the honor of sharing this with our teens is amazing. To have the Rosaries a parishioner donate to us be blessed and prayed with even stronger.
This morning we talked to our kids that God has a mission for us all. One second grader asked me what my mission was. I told her to be with them every Sunday. But when you figure out your mission for God it isn’t work. It’s just love. This was an incredibly busy day with no time in my head, but today was a mission in love. And I can only be grateful to have been called.
