I'm blessed

I'm blessed

In this time of global pandemic I have to say I am blessed.  I have an office at church that I can go to that exists outside of my four walls.  There are a total of six of us there sometimes together and sometimes by ourselves.   We now have staff meeting in the Parish Center where we sit at different tables and spread out.   But they are good friends and while we are getting our work done we are also laughing a lot.

Today was harder.   I worked from home and had a virtual staff meeting with each job.  It’s a totally different feel than when you are together.   One meeting went pretty well.  The other meeting had a lot of feedback and fuzzy pictures.   I was also competing with background noise in my house.   Kate has a meeting with her supervisor at the same time but she was closer to Eric who was playing video games.   It didn’t go well.

I have been talking to people on the phone who are really struggling being home and not having the ability to get out.   I have seen posts on Facebook of parents doing everything they can to keep their kids busy.

This afternoon Joe was seriously hovering.   He kept listening in and coming in.   I was getting so frustrated.   I’m trying to get work done.  I’m trying to have conversations and I don’t need him hovering in the background.
But I just got off a FaceTime call with one of our college freshmen.  She is so sad and frustrated with moving to online classes.   She thought of college as her way to “get out” and figure life out for herself.   And now she is back at home feeling more stuck then before.

I am blessed that I can get out, that I have two jobs that I can still do, and that I am not on the front lines and in any danger with COVID.  The only place I go besides my church office is the market.    And that is all I need.
