Hospice
The day started with me not able to make it out of the house on time. Not the best way to start the day. This was followed by a text, not unexpected, from my uncle that my cousin had passed away. She has been struggling with throat cancer and went downhill fast. Next was the call. This call was about Joe. He should be evaluated for hospice care. Nothing makes a better morning than these.
Late this afternoon I received a call that Joe has been approved for hospice care and on Friday I will meet with the nurse and social worker.
Next came the hard part. Now I have to tell my kids. Tonight we sat in the living room. My three “adult” children, one of my son in laws and two grandpups. I had to tell them and wonder if my on even understood what I was saying. My son in law asked most of the questions. I think he asked the questions my kids had but couldn’t speak.
Tonight I hugged them all. They all told me they were okay/alright. But like me, deep inside, there is pain.
