What they don't tell you
I have learned in the past two and a half years that you aren’t told exactly what your job entails at a Church!
Today I moved a Tabernacle, an electric piano and multiple boxes of new computer pieces. I helped decorate and cook for a multi parish Mardi Gras luncheon. I worked the copier hard while I prepared two weeks of lessons for Preschool to 11th grade and I ran our Middle School session. And, I had a blast. I laughed hard, I hugged and I joked.
No one told me when I took this job how I would become a part of a close knit, loving family. No one told me how much I would come to love the people around me from birth to death. No one told me how this “job” would become my lifeline in challenging times.
Here surrounded by these people, in this sacred space I know I can do what is asked of me. I can lean on them for support, rant when I need to, be the ear when it is time and just love and be loved. Yup, no one told me exactly what this job entailed. If they had, I never would have believed it.
