It's the simple things
Kate went our tonight to pick up somethings. I have her a list and she had things of her own to get. She came saying the store was out if so many things. There was no Country Crock, or spinach. She found milk and a few other things. But I have never been so happy to see Cheer laundry detergent.
Since this has started I have tried to get more Cheer but it has been out everywhere. I grew up with my mom using Cheer and to me the smell of it as clean laundry is just a feeling of home, a comforting smell. I thought this was one of “those” sacrifices for COVID. Something relatively insignificant but the loss of another norm.
Kate came back with two large bottles of Cheer. For the next weeks or months I will be very grateful for the smell of clean laundry amidst the uncertainty. It is one very small thing, but to me so meaningful.
