It's easy to write
It’s easy to write about what our family goes through as we face the beast of Alzheimer’s. It’s hard to stand before your community and listen to it. It’s hard to see people point and know it is out of concern but just not want it to be us.
This morning Joe, Eric, Sarah and I stood on the town common. We were the face of Alzheimer’s and the face of all the fundraising. Around us there were so many people. They took selfies, laughed and hugged when they saw one they knew, were engaged in joy filled conversation.
It was so hard to stand in that. It was so hard to want to be there as we have and just enjoy a beautiful Thanksgiving morning with our community.
We participated in the Turkey Trot for memory as a family for a few years but we never expected, never considered it would be us in that gazebo. Yet we were and we are. Thank you to all who shared, who enjoyed, who spent their early Thanksgiving morning raising money, gathering in community and helping to find out what Alzheimer’s is all about.
