Day Program Started

Joe went to his first day at the Adult Day program since the pandemic started. A lot has changed in him since then. He was very confused getting on the van this morning and where to sit.

He came home this afternoon saying it was a really long day. He had someone busy and it was just like here and there so he understood. He thinks someone is pregnant. He was asked to do things so he did. He thinks he ate more than normal. They have little things he doesn’t know what they are. He spent most of the day inside. Interspersed through this we’re at least four questions asking how was your day or how was church.

There is going to be a lot of change coming at him this next week. I know it will be challenging and I know it will confuse him even more. I do think though the pandemic has helped us keep him in a routine he appreciated for as long as we physically could. And I know that every person I have met at this program is so nice and welcoming.

I must admit I loved my hour alone this morning and the time I had alone before he came home. It’s the first time in over four years I have had time alone in my house.
