Tonight was EPIC!!!
Now I love Sacraments. I love preparing our kids/teens and then watching them receive the Sacrament. It’s a milestone in the faith life of our children and it is awesome to be even a part of that.
Never did I expect a Confirmation like tonight. Once again 2020 does not fail to surprise. This morning I was talking to Father T and Deacon C saying there was a thirty percent chance we would be safe for pictures before and after Confirmation tonight. Once again as per usual, I was mocked. ( I say this sarcastically as this is the way we roll). But throughout the day I watched the chance of rain drop during the Mass time.
So, we did get in the picture of all our Confirmation candidates on the front steps with Father and Deacon. It was all downhill from there. And it was amazing.
Deacon C is reading the Gospel and says “and the Holy Spirit descend on them” just as this amazing thunder roll happens. Father T gets up to say his Homily and gets to point two of three when even the Deacon is looking at the ceiling as the rain is pouring, the thunder rolling and the hail hitting the building. Father T kept on despite it feeling like the end of the world.
It was here with the lights flicking I started to wonder if Father T could Confirm in the dark. It was here is started to think the entire staff was in the building and if some thing went wrong we were going out together. It was here I just started to laugh. I looked back and forth from Jackie to Shelly and even with masks I could see in their eyes they were as amazed, overwhelmed and laughing with me.
At this point Jackie quietly exited only to text me the street was flooded. All I could think was and I wanted the rain to hold off for pictures. This was by far the most memorable Confirmation I have been through. I was so excited it was in our church and with our touches. But once again, I had no idea what 2020 would bring to the ceremony.
