The joy of bubbles
This afternoon Deacon Chris came in my office. “So I am working with a couple but their almost two year old is a handful. Do you have anything to keep her entertained?” Do I?!!! I gave him something to start while I ran over to the Parish Center There I grabbed our very new bubble machine and ran back to the Rectory.
At first Mia wasn’t ready to come with me. But that changed. We sat in the doorway near her parents and turned on the bubble
Machine. I truly wish I had something so simple in my life that brought me so much joy.
At first she just watched in awe at the bubbles. She grew braver and tried to touch them only to have them pop. She stuck her head right down by the blower as if trying to figure out how it worked. The absolute best was when the wind blew. Then the bubbles blew in her face and swirled around her. Her laugh was completely contagious. Her simple joy in bubbles makes life so much simpler. It makes me remember what truly is important. Sometimes it is just the awe of what is around us.
