Privilege to listen
Today I had the privilege to listen to a lady spend time speaking about her husband, her faith and her loneliness. She is patient of mine and for the past few years we have spoken a hand full of times about her husband's medications and how to help her afford them. This beautiful woman is alone in this pandemic. She had to put her husband in a nursing home do the multiple health problems he is dealing with. They never had children and she tells me she has no one to speak to.
We spent an hour on the phone. We talked about COVID, not being able to go to the nursing home to visit her husband, her fear of being alone and how she misses going to Church. It was my privilege to be able to spend time just talking to her, to listen, to hear what she was saying.
It makes me think and pray for all who have been so sheltered and isolated during this pandemic. I have been blessed to be able to go to the job that makes me laugh so much. I am blessed to have so many who reach out in emails, tests, Facebook messages, letters and in person. I am not alone as I continue on my journey. I cannot imagine what so many are dealing with.
I pray we are all able to survive and come through this pandemic. I truly pray for all those who are suffering alone.
