It can be funny
Today there were two different things that happened that made me see the funny aspects of this beast of a disease.
This morning the van driver called and said she would be here in ten minutes. It was raining so I got Joe in his raincoat, gave him a mask to put on and turned to open the front door. Seconds later he is yelling “I can’t see, I can’t see”. I tried not to laugh but his mask was over his eyes. He then told me he thought he did something wrong! He stood still long enough for me to fix it.
After he came home from his program he had something sticky on his hand. We tried alcohol hand sanitizer but that didn’t work. So I took him to the bathroom to wash his hands. As we did my phone rang and it was Kate. Since we were washing Joe’s hands I put Kate on speaker phone. Joe stood there staring in the mirror talking to Kate. I truly think he somehow thought Kate was listening through the mirror. When I started to walk out of the bathroom he continued to talk to the mirror. I tried to tell him she was on my phone but it didn’t sink in.
I’m glad today I was able to experience the humor in this disease instead of the frustration.
