I remember
Tonight I am reading my book and from outside smell a campfire. It brings back so many different memories.
In college we would go frequently to my roommate’s parents campground in Vermont. We would tube down the river and sit by the campfire. It was there I learned the best ever grilled cheese are made in metal tins held over the fire.
Later we would take our kids camping in New Hampshire. Our favorite campground is in Twin Mountain, NH. It has a river where the kids loved to body surf down. It was near so many White Mountain hiking trails. You could drive down the highway and pull over time and again for short or long hikes. One we came to love was Aruthesa Falls. It about killed you on the way up but at the top we just played in the water of the waterfall.
No matter where we camped every night had a campfire. Most nights also included smores. The smell of the fire brings back memories. The smell of the crisp, clean air makes me remember times that were more simple.
