Garden Build Day 1

Garden Build Day 1

So, my day started about 2am when I woke up thinking about so many things dealing with this garden build.   3am I was in the living room with a glass of milk trying to still my mind.  3:30am back to bed with thoughts raising.   5:45am alarm goes off and I can’t drag myself out of bed.   Sounds about right for me!

Day one was an amazing, hot, gritty, painful day.   Nineteen of us spent the workday, about 100 man hours, digging and spreading stone dust.    I don’t know if you have ever dug or spread stone dust.    Let me say, it hurts every part of your body.  It gets into your boots, on your water bottle, stuck to your sweat.    I don’t recommend it on a summer day.   Yet, our teens as always rallied.   They worked and they worked hard.

When the work day was over, they were literally sprawled across grassy areas.   You could actually question if we had killed them. On of our girls, who’s dad is in construction, said early in the day “This gives me a lot more respect for my dad”

So day two, the question is, will I be able to get out of bed? Stay tuned to find out.
