Today I took Joe to Men’s Warehouse for a Tux fitting for Kate's wedding. I’ve been worried about taking him. I had made an appointment but then blew it off. With a month left, I don’t have much choice.

We walked in and there was a line. He was calm and patient as we waited. Greg was a little stressed when he started to wait on us. He directed all questions to Joe. I explained he has Alzheimer’s and he started to direct questions to me. Then he stopped. His college roommates Dad was just diagnosed and lived four houses away. He has experience. Nothing Joe can do will be wrong. Deep breath in, deep breath out. Question slips through me my mind “Why do I constantly worry? It’s always okay”.

Greg was amazing with Joe. He treated him as a friend. He was gentle and compassionate. He would look at Joe but tell me what he would do to make it easier the day of the wedding.

The store became really busy. Greg apologized but asked Scott to finish with us. Scott didn’t know the details we had told Greg. It didn’t matter. Scott was wonderful and took great care of us.

Time and again I learn, when you put yourself out there and open up, the care in the world is amazing.
