Can I have a minute please?
Oh Sweet Jesus help me. It started right at the beginning of the day. The alarm went off, I got out of bed, Joe did too. In the living room he turned on the news to see cars had gone off the road due to a thin coating of ice. He started to worry but I told him I was working from home.
I opened the computer and started to work to have him asking, repeatedly that he thought “that was over”. Yes open enrollment is over but I still have work to do. Work for what? I have some pharmacy work to do that’s all. Said about five times.
Then came the Zoom outreach presentation. He was good through it only to be followed by, wow you had a lot to say, they asked a lot of questions, what were you doing and on and on.
I finished work and turned on a Hallmark Christmas movie in the bedroom. Wouldn’t you know it he was right there saying he would watch with me. I managed to move to the living room but he sat next to me on the couch and had to touch my arm or shoulder the entire time. I love my husband, I do, but can I please have some space.
The movie ends and I head off to watch Mass for the Immaculate Conception. Six minutes in Kate calls and wants to talk. So we talked for over a half hour and I go back to the Mass. Sure enough Joe walks in. He hovers over me saying how cool that is that Mass is on my phone. He stays till the end. Now I admit it is good to hear him say the responses and sing Hail Holy Queen, at least some of it. Mass is over and he sits and stares at me.
I tell him I am going to play some games on my phone to relax. He tells me to make sure and tell him when I am going to bed. Please Jesus, grant me strength and patience.
