A conversation

Tonight I spoke to Deb at Elder Services. We are looking to get a caretaker for Joe when mom and I aren’t here. In our conversation it brought back the weight we are carrying.

Who is in charge of meds? Who cleans? Who helps with showering, dressing? How has your relationship changed? How do you manage work? And the kicker, what do you do for you?

I go through everyday. I feel like I am on a treadmill. Church two days, pharmacy one day, church two days, pharmacy one, talk to kids. Rinse and repeat.

Then how long have you been doing this? Six months or less, a year, 3-5 years! Yup four years. I thank God have been able to do this for this long. I thank God for each and everyone of you who have supported us. I thank you for your prayers, your support, you just talking to me and boosting me so I know I am not alone. When my kids get down about this I remind them of the tribe, the community supporting us. They may not see them or hear from them. But despite the beast, we are loved, prayed for and supported by so many. Thank you my friends. #elderservices #earlyonsetalz #alz #caregivers #faith #catholic
