Jello worms strengthen faith
"I came for the jello worms and I have not left yet!" Who knew jello worms could draw someone deeper to God? Apparently God calls each of us differently.
During the Confirmation retreat this past weekend eight teens stood in front of their peers and talked about what drew them to their faith. Jacob was invited by a friend to the Kick Off Event. That was two years ago. In that time he went back to classes, went on two service trips, went to one youth conference and became a peer leader. All it took were jello worms.
Not all were as easy as jello worms but each involved putting themselves out there to try something new. Some went to the youth conference and found how much they enjoyed sharing faith with an entire stadium full of teens. Some went on the week long service trip and found they could be God's hands in the world. Others received a kick from Mom or Dad and were pushed into it.
These teens spent months preparing for the retreat and sharing personal stories about joys and struggles and how faith guided them or support them. These teens put themselves out there and at the end of the weekend 11 of their peers signed up to also be peer mentors.
