Head in hands
Tonight he sits in the couch with his head in his hands. He asked about Kate and I told him I haven’t heard from her today but that is okay. He tried to tell me something. He wanted me to know something. Yet, the words did not come. He tried a few times before giving up.
Now he sits on the couch with his head in his hands whispering to himself. I know there is something he wants to tell me. I listen more carefully and hear he is trying to pray. There is a pause. I hear “I pray for....” then a big sigh.
He sat there for awhile before telling me he can’t remember the responses for Mass. He wants to say the correct responses at Kate’s wedding. It is important to him he says the responses. I can find ways to help him and prompt him. But we talked about how important to Kate he was there. She wants her Dad to be with her and walk her down the aisle. She doesn’t care if he says responses or not.
We talked for awhile and both were emotional. All that matters is how much he loves his kids, he instilled our faith in them and he will be there for Kate. The rest we will deal with as it comes.
