God Squad Rocks
I love retreat. I love it if I am working it, planning it, running it and best of all being able to be on it. For the past three months our 11th and 12th grade God Squad students have been busy planning the middle school retreat. It’s not easy to find a way to be meaningful and occupy 60 middle schoolers for 4&1/2 hours.
It was awesome for me to have God Squad come to during the retreat and say I can’t believe you do this all the time. Or I need a break. Or I am running out of patience. Or I could never be a teacher. Yup at times our middle schoolers gave God Squad a run for their money. At times middle schoolers appeared to win. But in the end it was all God Squad.
As you are in the moment it is hard to know how things are going really. You see a problem over here or are running to set this up. You can’t really focus to see if it is going well or bombing so bad. I was able to come home, to go through the pictures and to go through the evaluations. I was once again in awe of our kids and our teens. In reading the evaluations the middle schoolers loved that God Squad were friends with each other, laughed a lot and spent all this time planning and running retreat for them.
Then Father shared pictures from retreat and sharing how awesome it is that high school students are sharing and growing faith with middle school students. It brings me back to the point that I am so close, so in the midst that I don’t really know how it was perceived. But the awesome thing is our high school students are sharing their faith where it is in their journey with those younger then they. They are all our future and they are leading each other. And know I can see the awesome.
