Marriage

So my friends, we are putting together videos for our kids on the Sacraments. I have been picking out the segments we will put in. Today as one of the last segments I recorded a couple who two months ago said their vows at our church.

It made me cry. I remember standing at the Altar and my vows came so easily even though I had been up all night questioning if I was making the right decision. Then I stood there with Joe and it was so easy to promise to love him till death do us part.

For this video we also recorded a couple from church who have been married 72 years. Talk about walking the walk. They are frail right now but there is so much conviction behind there words. They talk about faith being at the center of their marriage. They spoke of losing a daughter and the grief of that loss.

I won’t make it to 72 years. I may not make it to 28. But tonightas I watched this young couple so in love and so joyous in saying their vows I remember how easily mine came and how I am living them out.
